Sept 4-Oct 7: Angel Mounds – The Wanamaker Collection Photography Exhibit. Exhibit of important historical Native American photos taken from 1908-1923.

Sept 6: Haynie’s Corner Arts District – First Saturdays Art Walk. 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., join a walking tour of Evansville’s Downtown Arts District and the numerous studios and galleries therein. Maps can be picked up at Penny Lane Coffeehouse.

Continuing thru October 26: Evansville Museum – Fuzzy Physics. Interactive exhibit sparks the imaginations of youths and adults alike through the creations of engineer-turned-artist Richard Sonntag.

Continuing thru October 31: North Park Library – Steve Cochran. Art/books by the artist.

Continuing thru October 31: Oaklyn Library – Lisa Heichelbeck. Ceramics by the artist.

Continuing thru Dec 7: Evansville Museum – Seeing the Invisible Universe. A scientific documentary exploring some of the mysteries of the Universe, the program will show each Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 3-12.

Sept 3: Angel Mounds – Whispers of the Past. Documentary film featuring 3 past interviews from IU field students (1945, 1948, and 1961) who worked the Angel Mounds site. A slide show of old photos of the site follow the film.

Sept 3: Angel Mounds – Mounds and Towns Lecture. Dr. William Monoghan discusses what mound construction at Angel Mounds site teaches us about Mississippian settlements.

Sept 6-7, 13-14, 20-21: Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve – Wildlife in the City Canoe Program. Canoe 5 miles down Pigeon Creek every Sat (9 a.m.) and Sun (2 p.m.). $15 pre-registration required.

Bring motor oil, filters, batteries, gasoline, antifreeze, mercury thermometers, pool chemicals, household cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, glue, pesticides, oil based paints, solvents, thinners, and aerosol cans to be properly disposed of. hey guys, love the publication. grab one every month. well earlyer today i was sitting out front of penny lane enjoying my coffee and looking through the news 4 u's arts guide and noticed a slite mistake in spelling of the band playing at the poet house & emporium on sept 16th. not casting stones here. i mean my spelling is bad. REALLY bad in fact. so that being said and as the bass player and founder of the band in question, we'er herbal jam not hurdle jam. just saying guys. but hey! it was really cool to see it in news 4 u and hopefully as we roll along, there'll be much more mention of us. thanks guys...herbal jam
