October 16, 2008, Evansville, IN After speaking with producers for the movie “Dummy Hoy: A Deaf Hero”, a decision has been made to try and fill Bosse Field grandstands.

“Dummy Hoy: A Deaf Hero” is about the first deaf  baseball player to play in the Major Leagues. He played from 1886 to 1903, and was instrumental in the creation of hand signals, which were used for strike, safe, and out calls.

Filming will begin at 10 a.m on Saturday October 18, 2008 and will last approximately 6 hours. The movie will be in the time period of the late 1800’s and those interested in being extras should wear earth tone colors, and be conservative with hair and makeup as producers are looking for a clean look. Due to North High School band practice, parking with be restricted and difficult to find. *Wardrobe Requirements:
MEN: *Brown pants or dark colored pants
White or ivory shirts without collars
Brown or Earth-toned sports jacket or suit jacket Straw Hat / Newsboy hat / Dress hat Brown or dark colored dress or casual shoes (no tennis shoes) Hair must be shorter length / clean cut if possible.

*WOMEN: *Long Skirts - must be brown / earthtone or dark colors _OR Long Dresses White or Ivory colored blouses with collars - High collars are preferable.
Many women had large bows tied around the tops of their collars in the 1890s.
Brown or dark colored shoes (no tennis shoes) Wear hair up if you have long hair.
Very Natural Makeup.

*NOTICE:* IF you are not able to arrive with the required "look" and wardrobe, there is a possibility that you cannot be part of the baseball audience.
Patrons who arrive in street clothes may be asked to view the filming of the Documentary from a side area away from the main filming area.
Everyone is welcome to come..... but only the persons with the proper attire will be able to be in the film.

If you can stay for the entire day (10-3), that would be great - But please just let one of the Production Assistants know in advance that you are needing to leave early.
