Emerson Drive Countrifies the Vanderburgh 4-H Fair

Who says country music has to come straight out of Nashville? Look at Keith Urban – a mate from down under – has rocked the country scene. Likewise, a band from Alberta, Canada, is making their way into the hearts of the fans who appreciate big ole trucks, cowboy boots, a hard day’s work and the small but important moments in life.

Emerson Drive, formerly 12 Gauge, began their career way back in 1995. Over a decade later, with only one original band member, Brad Mates, a move to Nashville and five albums under their belts, the band has finally found success. The band’s fifth single, Countrified, produced the hit single, “Moments” that eventually landed in the No. 1 on the American Country Music Charts. Emerson Drive had definitely paid its dues, but it wasn’t until they played a small concert in the neighboring city of Bowling Green, KY, that their career took off. It just so happened two very influential country music legends were listening in and liked what they heard: Josh Leo and Teddy Gentry from the group Alabama knew immediately that Emerson Drive were country music stars in the making.

“We drove to Bowling Green to see this band with the idea of helping them cut a few songs," states Josh Leo. "Well, they blew us away. So I said, Sign us up! We're in! Let's Go!" Continues Teddy Gentry, "I was blown away with the band. This is possibly the best band I've heard in years as far as playing live on stage."
See Emerson Drive live on stage at the Vanderburgh County fair on July 23rd at 8:30 p.m. Tickets to concert are included with admission to the fair.
