What is it about hot weather? Just as soon as we are able to fry eggs on the sidewalk for breakfast, all mental reasoning goes out the door. Road rage soars, nut jobs go nutty, and sadly, it becomes normal to be seen in not much more than underwear. Short shorts (and skirts) and itty-bitty-teeny-weeny tops come out in full force, pushing the limits of “No shoes, no shirt” policies. As a member of the general public, this is NOT a sight I (or anyone) wish to see. I get it, it's hot and you want to stay cool, but what if I told you there is a better way?

            I give you the Maxi dress! This sleeveless, full length dress keeps you cool AND covered. I know what you're thinking, and yes, a full length dress can be comfortable in the summer. Most of these dresses are made of blended cotton fabrics, and jersey materials that keep the body feeling cool and crisp. (If it's not, keep looking until you find ones that are!) The BEST thing about these dresses, aside from being in every store in the mall, is that you can style a single dress to fit any and every occasion!

            An outfit for a casual day is all about mixing the elements. A pair of your favorite open-toe flats keeps the look casual, but it's all about the elements too. Jewelry that is bright, fun, and funky adds interest to your outfit. Don't be to have fun with your purse either! An oversized purse of any kind balances with the length of your dress. Now you're ready for the mall, grocery store, or just a walk along the river!

            If you need a dressier outfit for daytime because of a wedding, or just a lunch with “his” parents, reverse the details of the causal day. Wedges are a great start for drama and interest. Add a cardigan, a clutch and remember to keep the jewelry to a minimum, small stud earrings and a long one strand necklace complete this outfit.

            Now, when it comes to evening looks it's all about fun! The wedges from the dressy event, and the jewelry from the casual day, can be added together, along with that same clutch, and with some dramatic makeup you're ready for a perfect night out on the town.
